Arrested Made For Deadly Shooting Inside Harrisburg Grocery Store (Update)

The man who is accused of shooting someone dead inside a popular grocery store in Harrisburg has been arrested, the city police announced on Friday afternoon.

Jerome Coleman Jr., 32 of Harrisburg, is accused of fatally shooting Christian Watts, 27 also of Harrisburg, inside Antonio Grocery on the 2200 block of North Sixth Street at Woodbine Street just before 2:20 p.m. on May 3, according to the police release on May 10 and an earlier release by the Dauphin County Coroner's Office on Monday, May 5. 

A deputy coroner was called to the scene and police had taped off the area as of 3:40 p.m., officials said. 

His autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, county press secretary Diane McNaughton told us, but those results were unavailable as of Friday at 5:30 p.m.

His community has been sharing about its loss on social media, but the funeral arraignment has not been publicly shared. 

Coleman has been charged with Murder and Felony Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, according to his latest court docket. 

He has a history of convictions dating back to 2011, court records show. Coleman has been convicted of numerous felonies and served approximately five years in prison for assault, firearms offenses, traffic and speeding charges, and several drug dealing-related charges. 

His preliminary arraignment for this deadly shooting was pending at the time of publishing.
